Mission Statement

At HarbourLights our mission is to provide the best cinema and event venue experience to the local community. We pride ourselves on giving our customers a comfortable environment to view films and hold events using state of the art technology. We provide an excellent, friendly service and ensure the experience is value for money.

How To Book

Online

You can book tickets online by clicking on the time of a film. Please print a copy of the confirmation page/email.

Box office

Our cinema will open at least 20 minutes before the start of the first film each day.

Telephone: Unfortunately, we are unable to take telephone seat sales at this time.

Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, therefore it is advisable to book in advance.

We operate an allocated seating system. We ask you to sit in your allocated seats as otherwise you may be occupying someone else's seats.

Food Policy

Food and drinks have been reasonably priced. Therefore, we ask that you do not bring food and drinks purchased from outside sources. If you do so we will ask you to leave it behind the counter until the end of the film.

Alcohol Sales

Our alcohol sales are restricted to certain films depending on the certificate, content, and time of day. Ask our staff which of our current films you can enjoy an alcoholic drink in.

No glass drinking glasses is allowed into the cinema, plastic glasses will be provided.

Environment & Sustainability

Our single use packaging for food and beverages has been specifically chosen to have the least impact on the environment. Our disposable cups, drinks containers and straws are made plant/vegetable extract rather than plastic, and is decomposable, naturally breakdown within the environment.

We encourage all our customers to bring in their own cups and containers, which we will fill to the portion size served and you benefit by aiding the environment by reducing landfill and receiving the product at a reduced price.

Access To The Cinema And Screens

A supply of booster seats is available. Doors for a show open around 20 minutes before the show depending on when the previous show finishes and the amount of cleaning required. Therefore, we ask you that, where possible, you take your rubbish with you at the end of the film. Ask at our box office for more info on when a particular show opens.

There is a lift available for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and buggy/prams.

Sold Out Shows

If a show sells out completely in advance, we will try to notify the customers via social media. On busy periods this may be impossible. We always recommend booking in advance.

Queuing System

We appreciate that at some points the cinema is extremely busy. We ask our customers to be patient and listen to the staff instructions. If you have booked your tickets in advance, please have your booking reference or QR code ready to enable us to find your booking as quickly as possible. If you have booked tickets, you will still need to join the queue to collect them.

The Cinema

HarbourLights, cinema and multipurpose event venue, is a brand-new purpose-built extension to the Malvina House Hotel in Stanley, which was completed in June 2019.

The cinema provides a second screen for Forces Cinemas in the Falkland Islands, offering an additional entertainment service from BFBS to the military and civilian community.

The digital cinema screen is 7.3 meters wide by 3 meters high with Digital surround sound.

The capacity is 55 seats, with two additional wheelchair spaces, these spaces are only available to book directly at the box office.

Car Parking

Free car parking is available at the rear of the hotel, however please note the entrance to the cinema is via the Malvina House Hotel Reception.

We also hire the cinema for private parties, private film viewings, lectures and gaming events!

Concessions

We do not operate other concessions on main films, although some concessions are available for Event Cinema and other alternative content.

Under 2s will be admitted free of charge if sat on the same seat as the paying parent/guardian. A baby ticket must be issued and can be obtained from the box office of the cinema.

Smoking

You must not smoke or use E-cigarettes inside any of our premises. Please use the dedicated outside smoking areas and dispose of cigarettes in the purposely designed bins. Take any litter with you to dispose of in a bin.

Gift Cards

Why not purchase a Gift Card.

The minimum value is £5.00 and the card comes in a stylish gift card and envelope.

Accessibility

We are committed to offering maximum accessibility and we strive to provide facilities that meet the requirements of all our Customers.

An adapted accessible toilet with Wheelchair access is provided.

The Gift card is valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Any use of the gift card extends the validity by a further 12 months.

Hard Of Hearing/Visual Narration

The system allows customers with extra needs to fully use and enjoy the facilities being offered.

Refusal Of Admission

We reserve the right to refuse admission for any reason. You will be required to leave the premises without a refund if you:

behave in an anti-social or threatening manner; or • put the safety of our customers, our employees or our property at risk; or • bring a camera or recording equipment of any kind into the cinema; or • otherwise breach these venues terms and conditions

Special Showings

BABIES, TODDLER TIME, KIDS CLUB, SENIOR SHOWINGS, LATE NIGHT SHOWINGS, SING-A-LONG Baby Friendly Screenings and Toddler Time For Babies, preschool children and their parents and carers. These are set up with a warm and calm auditorium, with lower volume and bottle/food warming facilities available. These shows are only open to those with a babies under 24 months old, but accompanying toddlers up to school age are also welcome to come along as well. No adult unaccompanied will be admitted.

Kids' Club

For children aged three to 12. No adult unaccompanied by a child will be admitted.

A series of film screenings for our guests who are over-64. Tickets include tea, coffee and biscuits before your film.

Limited Mobility/Disabled In The Event Of An Emergency

HarbourLights Cinema has a limited mobility/disabled refuge point. If you would like to be made aware of the location of refuge point when you arrive, please ask a member of staff.

In the event of a suspected emergency our staff will ask customers with limited mobility on the first floor to move to a refuge point before evacuating the Auditorium and foyer. Once the stairs are clear we will return to help you down the stairs. Evacuation chairs are provided to help with emergency exit, should you want to use one.

The lift will not be operated in the event of a fire unless authorised by the Fire Brigade.

Age Policy

Age Restrictions

Entry to films and events is restricted by the classification given by the British Board of Film Classification or others. We are required to refuse admission to anyone who is below the minimum age required by the relevant classification. Anyone can be admitted to films classified as U or PG. Children under 12 can be admitted to films classified as 12A but only if accompanied by an adult (i.e. someone over the age of 18). Nobody under the age of 15 can be admitted to films classified as 15. Nobody under the age of 18 can be admitted to films classified as 18. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by someone who is at least 18 years of age to be admitted after 7.00pm. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by someone who is at least 18 years of age at all times (regardless of film classification). Babies under the age of 24 months can go into screenings providing that:1. they sit on a lap for the entire screening (i.e. do not take up a seat); and they are removed from the auditorium should they cause disturbance to other customers; and the film is classified as U, PG or 12A.

Babies under the age of 24 months will be admitted without charge. Tickets must be purchased for everyone else. We reserve the right to require you to prove your age with appropriate photographic ID if you are going to a 12A, 15 or 18 film or purchasing an alcoholic drink. If you are unable to prove your age you will be not be able to watch the film or buy an alcoholic drink. We reserve the right to ask for such proof at any time you are on our premises. If you buy a ticket before we know its classification and you are not old enough to be admitted to the screening we will issue you with a full refund.

There needs to be adult supervision for children under the age of 14, one adult to every 10 children. Unless previous arrangement has been made with the Box Office. If you have any questions, then please ask at the box office.
